The daughter of a royal family, Rosalia, promised to marry a man when she wanted to join Religious Life, ran away from home and lived in a cave up on a mountain for around 15 years. She was forgotten until her bones were discovered years later as Palermo suffered from disease. She revealed herself to members of the community, and a procession of her remains ended the plague.
